Earlier this week I posted about a line in Panic! At The Disco’s song The Calendar. However, I don’t believe I did the line justice. Every time I hear the line, “at night your body is a symphony, and I’m conducting” I get chills. First of all, the obvious image of a couple in bed surfaces. The first part of the lyric, “at night your body is a symphony”, is a beautiful image of a woman enjoying herself with her partner. Whether or not you feel this line involves sex is up to you. I tend to think this line has very sexual connotations, but I’m sure others do not feel the same. The second part of the lyric, “and I’m conducting” provides the image of the singer, Brendon Urie, being the cause of the women’s pleasure. Looking at the lyric sexually, the person singing the lyric (in this case, a male) is responsible for the pleasure of the women. He is conducting the symphony, so control pops up as well. The power of the line is unbelievable. It is such a focal point to the song. The lyric showcases the love that the singer has for his partner, but at the same time, it reveals the power he has over her as well. Simply beautiful.
